Projects that we are assisting are:
Pursued By A Bear “The Lamelar Project”
A ground-breaking, international experiment in which Pursued by a Bear Productions will be working in the cloud with Philadelphia theatre company Tiny Dynamite to co-produce a live ‘scratch’ performance of this innovative eco-thriller for UK, US and Internet audiences with live actors, live streaming and ‘real life’ scientists.
“Don’t Hate The Rich – Be One Of Them! A Live Webinar by Michael Green”
The Guardian recently broke a story about Tory chairman, Grant Shapps MP, detailing how prior to being an MP he had run an internet company called HowToCorp under the pseudonym Michael Green, an internet marketing guru. This “identity squatting” project offers an opportunity to interact with the now obscured identity in an online seminar.
Catharina Cronenberger Golebiowska “Mars One Extended”
Time delayed communications with the astronaut piloting a DIY Martian capsule, highlighting how humans will deal with isolation and colonisation of other planets.
To help us with our decision on which projects to support, we assembled a selection panel with wide experience and diverse approaches to assess applications for the final commissions. Panellists were:
- Cathy Westbrook (Futuredream/Theatre In The Cloud)
- Chris Tingley (Technical Director, Conjure)
- Jon Pratty (Relationship Manager, Creative Media, Arts Council England South East/East)
- David Varela (Writer)
- Annette Mees (Co-Director, Coney)
- Ron McAllister (CEO, South Hill Park Arts Centre)
We had many proposals that we wanted to support and thought that we could give many of the artists some further momentum with a development lab – so we’ve organised one! The UPstream Lab on Weds 9 July is designed to help performers and artists work with live streaming technology, design deeper online experiences for audiences and build interactivity in the performance space.
